The only superpower a child needs is the power of survival. A power they can only achieve with the help of child vaccination, among other factors.

Every child deserves a superpower. This doesn’t mean being able to fly or turn invisible, but rather the most important one of all: the power of survival. To this day, there are still 14.5 million children around the world who have not received a single vaccine, and they are vulnerable to preventable diseases such as pneumonia or malaria, which pose a risk to their lives. However, thanks to initiatives like the Vaccines4Children project, we can change this situation.

What we do

In 2008, ”la Caixa” Foundation became the first private partner of GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance in Europe and together we set up the Vaccines4Children project, an initiative that combats infant mortality in the most disadvantaged areas by vaccinating the very young.

Thanks to this alliance, we've managed to reduce the number of premature deaths in the affected areas, to increase life expectancy and, in general, improve the future of these towns and cities.

More than 17 years of collaboration have resulted in a generation that has brought hope back to this cause and has shown that changing the fate of these children is possible. Since 2018, this alliance has raised 100 million euros, which has helped to vaccinate more than 13 million children.

How we do it

”la Caixa” Foundation, as a partner of GAVI, participates in monitoring the project and guarantees that all contributions go entirely to GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance for Child Vaccination.

Since 2011 ”la Caixa” Foundation and the Gates Foundation have respectively doubled all funds donated to GAVI by the private sector by making matching donations, quadrupling the efforts made to combat infant mortality.

Who's it for

CaixaBank customers and businesses who, as part of a philanthropic initiative, wish to support Gavi’s mission to save the lives of thousands of children.
