Where immunology shapes the future.

What we do

From our centre in Barcelona, we work to generate knowledge regarding the immune system and its relationship with prevalent diseases, carrying out our own research as well as working together with other leading scientific centres.

To this end:

  • We place science centre stage, designing projects that combine different focuses and disciplines to improve our understanding of the immune system and its applications for health.

  • We apply rigorous methodologies, endorsed by international experts, that guarantee solid, reliable results in each research phase.

  • We encourage collaboration in networks, working together with other institutes, hospitals and scientific organisations to boost synergies and share resources and knowledge.

  • We develop advanced infrastructures, offering teams access to cutting-edge technology and specialised platforms that support innovative research in everything related to biomedicine.

Five pillars that underpin our research

We carry out research into the immune system by means of a comprehensive approach based on three core scientific areas and five multidisciplinary programmes.

Innovation that transforms

By means of a constant culture of innovation, we support researchers in each phase of their projects to transform ideas into solutions with a real impact on society.

Cutting-edge scientific resources

We provide our teams with laboratories, specialised platforms, a biomedical data hub and the NextLab space.

New centre, new opportunities

At the new 20,000 m² centre next to the Science Museum, we'll combine sustainability and technology to set up internationally renowned teams.

Science at the service of society

We encourage dialogue between science and citizens, promote scientific talent and foster the transfer of knowledge.

Connecting talent and knowledge

The CaixaResearch Institute carries out its own high-impact programme and also strengthens collaboration with six leading centres associated with ”la Caixa” Foundation: IrsiCaixa, ISGlobal, VHIO, BBRC, IRSJD and GIMM.
